42km in Milo Marathon 2018

Hi! I recently completed another full marathon or 42km in Milo Marathon 2018 (Manila Leg). Coming from the 21km in Runfest, I decided to sign up for a longer distance to challenge myself yet again.

Although there were a lot of difficult circumstances, I was able to finish the run within the cut-off period and I was able to earn another full marathon medal.

It started to rain even before the gun start and it continued to be sporadic which made it a challenge because I felt dizzy at one point and I started to have cramps eventually.

We had to pass by Kalayaan Flyover four times in total which, for me, is the most challenging part of the route.

Somewhere along Kalayaan Flyover

I remember computing my finish time if I were to stop for a bit to massage my cramping leg. It was a run-walk effort but I managed to finish with a decent time of 5:40.

200m away from the finish line. Wore the Bicolano Shirt as my support to a friend

After crossing the finish line, my teammates fetched me so we can all have breakfast in…yes, Mang Inasal. Lol.

Congratulations, team!

Happy to report that running 42km did not discourage me from joining more long distance races. In fact, this just made me realize that I can still do it and that I should dedicate time to train just like before. Thank you to my teammates for constantly encouraging me and to the Lord for keeping me safe the entire time.

Onto the next one.

Thanks for reading!
